Aloe Gels

Drink to your health! Our aloe vera gels contain the same 200 biologically-active components as our juices, but have a thicker consistency than the juice. Some consumers find this thicker consistency to have a “soothing” effect. The juices and gels have the same beneficial polysaccharides, essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Just pick a consistency that you like best!

Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Supplement Facts

1. Should I use Whole Leaf or Inner Fillet?
While both products will work well for supporting your digestion, immune system, antioxidants and reducing nitrates; the Whole Leaf products, when tested, showed a slight superiority maximizing benefits in clinical studies performed. The Inner Fillet products have a milder taste.

2. What is the consistency of the gel?
With our thickening agent Carrageenan, which is derived from moss, the consistency of the gel should still pour easily from the bottle and be slightly thicker than a juice consistency.

I started having digestive issues that coincided with thyroid issues and gluten intolerance. I needed something to calm my gut. I tried some of one other popular product and nothing happened. I then started some research on the web and found Lily of the Dessert. They talked about the needed polysaccarides which was missing from the other product. Wow what a difference! Nothing happened at first but after about two weeks of 15-30 minutes before breakfast – my gut felt wonderful. I do not plan on stopping the Lily of the Desert gel product any time soon. I see different results in many areas – my gut feels perfect, my eyes look clearer, my skin is appearing more youthful. It has been a month but can’t wait to see what happens after three months of use. Thank you Lily of the Desert. B

I have been taking LOTD Gel for about a week now and I have to say it has helped me tremendously! No more crazy gas pains, no more bloating after I drink water, and am very “regular”… I take it 30 minutes before lunch and 30 minutes before dinner I can tell my food is digesting the way it is supposed to. Thank you Lily!

    • This is great to hear and we are so glad that our products are helping you!

Is this formulation also safe for using on my skin. have been taking internally for a few day and feel good but
wondered if I could use this gel/juice on my face

    • Hi Annette- The pH has been lowered in the aloe juices/gels to work more in tune with your stomach’s pH. You can try a small portion of your skin to check for any redness or burning sensation.

I have been taking Aloe Vera Gel for over 40 years. It is good for so many things, just to name a few like indigestion, upset stomach, cold sores, athletic feet, burns, probiotic etc. I just love it.

    • That’s incredible Gloria! Thanks for being so devoted to aloe and our products!

I absolutely ADORE your Aloe Gel.
I make and sell ( on a small scale) home made face washes and body lotions as a result of my sensitivity to chemicals in most products.

and your Aloe Gel is the ONLY one i will use as a base in my Aloe vera lotions.

it gets the job done and i trust it so so so much.
    it works perfectly 🙂

    so thank you.

    • Awesome! Thanks so much for using our products!

Just bought your inner filet aloe vera gel…at Mother’s Market in Southern California.

Was told that this product was the best for topical on my gums.
Do you agree or is there an even better one that you sell for irritated gums?

    • Hi Janet- Some customers do use our gels and juices as a mouthwash. We don’t have directions, per se. You can still swallow the aloe afterward, if you choose to, and get its other benefits for digestive and immune health.

I was introduced Aloe Vera juice by my sister who is very ill…She started taking the juice and the only problems she is facing is that she sweats a lot…I was wondering if the juice is removing toxic from her body…
I bought the Lily of the dessert gel for myself to take for joint pain and arthritis. I tried some on the scars on my face. I got redness and burning sensation and I have to keep on washing my face it is not a good idea to use on face. I would like to know if you product for sensitive scars skin…

    • Aloe is a good detoxifier, and the gel that you are using has a lower pH to work with your stomach’s acid pH level. That might be why you have redness on your face when you used it topically. We do carry a topical gelly that can be found at your retailer. That will work much better for you topically.

I have been dealing with constipation for as long as I can remember. I did some research and stumbled upon this product and read all the amazing reviews, so naturally I had to try it myself. I have been using this product for about 3 weeks now and if you suffer from constipation I highly recommend this. I have tried so many things and this really works!!! I will never go with out it.

    • That’s great to hear, Amanda!

I love your product! I bought the Aloe Vera Gel primarily to use it topically to make homemade skin care, so I was wondering, after reading your responses to the Ph content, was specifically is the pH of the GEL(Inner leaf) not the gelly?, i’m not interested on the gelly product. I will appreciate your response.

    • The pH should range from 3.8 to 4.2 in the Aloe Vera Gel.

I used to have it when I was in Norman, OK but I live in Cape Town (South Africa)now, is there any way that I can access the product?

I think this gel is THE BEST for belly issues! We are traveling next week and I wondered, since it is supposed to be refrigerated, will it be ok to NOT be cold for about 8 hrs? I really want to take with me. Thanks,

    • Glad to hear you enjoy our product. If it has been opened it is important to maintain refrigeration. When do you leave for your vacation? You may want to try to find some Aloe Mix n’ Go to take with you. We made Aloe Mix n’ Go for this exact purpose.

I have been suffering from stomach issues for about a year now..and a co- worker bought me a bottle of LOTD gel for me to try.. i am so so thankful and amazed on how quickly it has helped me…thank you so much..

    • Glad to hear that Carmen! Thanks for sharing.

Can this be used on skin?

    • That is a great question Sophie. For some people, yes they can. The pH in this product is much lower (about a 4) than other topical products. Try a small portion on your skin and if you see any redness or irritation you know that it will not work on your skin. You can always use our topical 99% Aloe Gelly for skin use.

I just bought this because the aloe I was using has honey in it and I can’t have any sweetener. The consistency of the gel is off-putting. Any ideas how to get it down? I am on a strict food plan and can’t have juice. Thin it out with water? Would warm water destroy some of its effectiveness? Anyone else find the texture objectionable and have suggestions for me? Thanks!

    • Hi Susan- You can mix it with water in a blender to get the consistency to thin out some. It will not affect the potency.

This is a good product! I would be better if it did not have the scientifically proven cancer causing ingredient “Carrageenan”in it! I will stop buying it until it is removed. It is not a health benefit to cure on problem and cause antoher.
    Thank you,

    • Thank you for your comment. The issues surrounding carrageenan stem from the degraded version of the ingredient, poligeenan. Carrageenan acts in the body much like a dietary fiber, passing through the digestive tract without being absorbed. We use about .01% in our gels to get the consistency that we have had for 45 years. We have looked into other thickeners but none have given us the consistency that gel users expect. You can also use our preservative free juices to get the aloe benefits that you want.

This product has saved my sanity and works wonderfully well, soothes my hyper acidic stomach. The 3 is because it is such a bear to get into. I am a 71 year old female with arthritic hands and the bottle requires a utility knife to get the strip off and vice grips to get the cap off. I am also not a fan of the carrageenan.

    • Thanks Jean. We are glad the product works well for you. Have you tried our preservative free juices in the glass container? They have a different cap that might be easier for you.

Thank you so much for the super product! It really works. I didn’t realize how bad my tummy and esophagus were until I started feeling better. I love it and now I’m hooked.

    • That is awesome to hear!

I was informed by sales person at a Vitamin Discount Center that I could use this as a hair product. I did but concerned to continue after I read the above reviews in relation to skin issues????

    • The pH of this product has been lowered to about 3.8 to 4.2. You just need to test a portion of your scalp for any redness. If you experience any irritation that means that your skin is too sensitive to the pH. Or you can always use our 99% Aloe vera gelly which is for topical use. It makes a great hair gel.

I’ve recently tried using the juice as a mouth rinse for “burning mouth” likely due to Sjogren’s Syndrome. (I’m waiting for confirmation.) A few days ago it was becoming quite painful, but after rinsing with this a few times, I’m cautiously optimistic that it may be helpful! However, as I’m reading your precautions for use on skin due to the low pH, could you please tell me if it could be contraindicated as a mouth rinse?
    Thank you.

    • Hi Brenda- You should be fine to use the aloe gel as a mouth rinse. We have had other customers use it for this purpose with no issue.

I’ve been using the inner filet gel for many years now as a soothing and non-stinging aftershave as well as a hair “gel.” It has a very light hold in the latter application – just the right amount without looking shiny or being sticky! The lower PH doesn’t seem to be a problem, for me at least.

excellent product have for a few days and feel the result
I have kidney problem was told I have a virus in my kitchen. do you thinl aloe vera gel will help

    • It would be best to check with a physician or pharmacist, especially if you are on medication, prior to using the aloe gel.

Do i have to mix the gel with water? Or just out of the bottle?
    Thank you

    • You can do take it straight or mix it with water/juice, etc. It does not affect the potency.

I’m a bit confused.I’ve used this product under the name of “Lily of the Valley”-Aloe Vera Gel.Great for hair, made it grow on baldness.Left it shiny and healthy. It’s the same bottle.
Can I use this formula for my hair(is it the same formula?) I’ve been searching but, can’t find it.
    I would appreciate any information.
    Thank you, Sylvia

    • Hmmm, well we have been Lily of the Desert for 45 years. Not sure where the other bottle came from. In regards to our own gel product, some people are able to use it on their skin/scalp without any issues. But it is mainly used for internal purposes. I would suggest buying a small bottle and try it on a small portion of your scalp first to make sure you do not notice any redness or itching.

I was recently diagnosed with diverticulitis (inflamation of the lower intestine) and was encouraged by a friend to try an aloe vera product. I purchased your Lily of the Desert Gel at my local health food store, but have not started it yet. Do you know if it has helped others with this condition?

    • Hi Yvonne- We are not able to comment or recommend you use this product for a diagnosed condition. The most common reason people use aloe internally is to help balance their digestion and the pH of their stomach. If you are on meds, please consult with your physician or pharmacist prior to use.

I have read by a doctor this following for the whole leaf product:
The outer skin of the leaf is highly toxic – it is the plant’s natural defence against being eaten in the wild.
If the product has been filtered to remove the parts of the outer skin that are toxic, nutritious parts of the
    gel will also be lost.

    Should I worry?

    • The toxic portion you are talking about is aloin and our products contain less than 1 part per million aloin content. We also have a safety study on our products confirming they are safe for daily use. We also have scientific studies that show our whole leaf products outperform the inner fillet products, even when filtered. So no, you should not worry when it comes to Lily of the Desert products.

I just purchased the product because I need help with hair loss and skin care. Would the aloe vera gel help me out?

    • Hi Katherine- If you want to use aloe for topical purposes we would recommend our 99% Aloe Vera Gelly that comes in 4, 8 and 12 oz. That product can be used on your scalp as well as your skin.

I have just started using this to relieve reflux and it’s burning effects in my throat. I don’t know how it is doing so far bc I became nauseated after drinking 4 oz. I went down to 2oz, and was still a little nauseated. I did add apple juice (is that ok?) Bc I found the taste horrible. Any suggestions?

    • Maybe go even lower and try to use it before a meal

I tried the ‘Aloe Vera Juices’ in the stores but they basically amount to sugar drinks. So I picked up a large Lilly of the Desert, Whole leaf Aloe Gel from our local health food store. It’s amazing! No more heartburn, skin feels great, digestion is function better than it has in years and I feel healthier overall. For those complaining about the taste here is my simple mix I do all the time:
Use a tall water glass, around 12 or 16oz
2 tbsp lemon juice (not from concentrate, buy a whole lemon, squeeze the juice),
1 tbsp 100% REAL maple syrup (seems weird ik but it compliments nicely, you can use stevia or agave too),
    2tbsp Whole Leaf Gel
Sprinkle in some chia or flax seeds, no more than a tsp (this adds some protein for us vegetarians)
Add water to top, stir and drink.
Sweeten to taste. For a real pick-me-up add a dash of cayenne.

I know that seems like a weird mixture but the lemon and aloe compliment sooo nicely.

Thank you for a great product!

I just purchased your gel (inner fillet) I have been having diarrhea. Is it ok to take for diarrhea?

    • Possibly, try a very small portion, like 1 oz or 2 tablespoons before a meal. If you symptoms continue, discontinue use.
